Q: What do you do and where are you located?
A: maris kirs photography specializes on photographing portraits and wedding in North Florida. i’m located in Ponte Vedra, Fl and traveling all around Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Amelia Island, Savannah, Jekyll Island, Palm Coast and beyond.
Q: What’s your style?
A: i would say it’s on the brighter side & vibrant at the same time. look around in my portfolio and you will find out exactly what I mean.
Q: Do you charge travel expenses?
A: travel expenses for portrait photography within 30 miles of 32081 will be covered with the package fee. expenses for travel and accommodation for further afield will be added.
Q: What camera do you use?
A: i use all the latest Canon equipment – EOS 5D Mark IV as main camera and EOS 5D Mark III as a backup. most of the times I bring both of my cameras to the session so I don’t have to switch the lenses during the shoot. my favorite lens is probably 70-200mm 2.8 but I also use 50mm 1.2, 100mm Macro and 35mm. i use flash whenever needed as well.
Q: Are you insured?
A: yes, all my equipment is fully insured and I am covered by liability insurance as well.
Q: Is there an additional fee if we pay via credit card?
A: yes. the retail adjustment fee for all credit card transactions is 3% of the charged amount.
Q: Can we see unedited images?
A: no. every image I deliver is post produced with unique signature style of mine. I only show you the best images from the session and that means all the duplicates, unflattering poses and “eyes-closed" images will be deleted.
Q: What do you mean by “touching up” the photos?
A: “touching up” means basic editing and involves color correction, exposure adjustment, selective black and white processing, clarity adjustments, tone-mapping, and other corrections.
Q: What are your prices and packages?
i would love to discuss rates with you! wedding packages start at $2900. the best way to view at my pricing is by clicking on the CONTACT ME button and emailing me some details about your plans! if I am available on your date, I would be more than happy to email you my rates for your location, as well as chat about putting together a custom package that suits exactly what your wedding requires.
Q: WHAT MAKES YOUR WORK DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS’ WORK?
A: i take all of my photos in intimate, relaxed settings and try to use natural lighting as often as possible. my sessions are candid & fun!
Q: WILL WE GET THE PRINT RELEASE TO OUR PHOTOS AFTER OUR WEDDING?
A: yes! upon receiving your images, you will also get a full print release.
Q: HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS WILL BE THERE AT OUR WEDDING?
A: most of my wedding collections come with 2 photographers, although if you choose a collection that is less than 8 yours you will be able to add 2nd shooter if needed.
Q": If we cancel the wedding, will we receive our retainer back?
A: unfortunately, no. retainers are used to reserve your date. once I’ve reserved it, I do not accept new clients for your date.
Q: If we change our wedding to a different date, will we be able to use our deposit towards a future date?
A: generally no, but this is taken on a case by case basis. the reason for canceling and our availability is taken into account. also, if rates change from your original date to your new date, the new rates will apply.
Q: DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ELOPEMENTS?
A: of course! depending on availability and the number of hours you have set aside for photography, i have special rates for weekday weddings and elopements.
Q: Why do I have to provide a meal to you and your 2nd photographer at my wedding?
A: basically, myself and my staff are able to work on a higher level for longer if we've been fed! we require meals to be provided for any coverage over five hours. if you choose not to provide a meal for us, we will take a one hour break at some point during your reception to have a meal.
Q: WE’RE HAVING A DESTINATION WEDDING. DO YOU TRAVEL?
A: yes! i love destination weddings! send me more information on your travel plans, and i will create a custom wedding collection to suit your needs.
Q: DO I HAVE TO ORDER PRINTS THROUGH YOU?
A: i highly recommend ordering prints through our professional vendors, but it is not required. the difference in quality is huge when it comes to ordering through a professional lab, so i encourage clients to let me help with prints!
Q: How many photographs will we receive?
A: that depends on the package you choose when booking a wedding. i don’t set a maximum limit of images taken during the wedding day and will take in excess of 1500 photographs; these are then edited down to usually between 600 images or so.
Q: When will we be able to see our photographs?
A: Ii aim to have the photographs available to view online within 4-6 weeks so they are ready to be viewed when you return from your honeymoon.
Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
A: i use all of the latest canon equipment. we always carry the 5d mark iv, the mark iii, 35mm lens, 50 mm lens, 70-200 mm lens, & macro 100mm lens, among other items. all of the cameras and lenses have a backup in the rare event that anything should happen to one of my pieces.
Q: ARE THE COUPLES ON YOUR SITE MODELS?
A: haha! while we are lucky enough to work with gorgeous couples, the images shown on our site and blog are of regular, paying clients.
Q: HOW DO WE RESERVE OUR WEDDING DATE?
A: a 50% retainer and signed contract is required in order to get your wedding day on the calendar. two weeks prior to your wedding, the remainder of the balance is due. just EMAIL ME to let me know your date so I can check my availability.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF PREFERRED VENDORS TO USE?
A: we sure do! from wedding coordinators to florists and caterers, we have worked with some of the best companies in the industry and would be happy to share their information with you!
